Dreamtoons (Out of Print)
Collecting the very best from the first three years of Slow Wave and
published by Shambhala Publications in 2000.
Roz Chast called it "Fascinating, strange, and hilarious!"
Bill Griffith said, "Dreamtoons is on my wavelength. Jesse Reklaw turns his
readers' dreamscapes into crisply drawn little surreal stories that seem eerily
familiar. It's smart, funny, and full of wacky non sequiturs."
It's out of print, but
Microcosm
sometimes has some, and used copies are easy to find on
Amazon.
Other Stuff by Jesse Reklaw
Applicant - $3
See what no one was supposed to see again: pictures of hopeful students,
accompanied by unflattering, behind-doors quotes from their professors and
employers. Distills the essence of a bygone era from a dumpstered stash of
confidential biology applicant files circa 1965-1975.
48-page booklet, published as a zine in 1998, and then with a spine in 2006 by
Microcosm Publishing.
Bluefuzz the Hero - $4
Stitched together from the discarded fragments of the collective unconscious,
this post-modern hero's quest is told largely through hypothetical asides and
anecdotal diversions. But it flows elegantly -- humorously even! -- through
unconventional layouts -- fraught with snotty gods, mustached giants, and
diabolical witches -- broken up by eight full-color paintings of anti-heroic
moments -- recounting the life of our hapless but charismatic hero, Bluefuzz.
28-page handmade mini-comic. Sample pages:
one,
two.
